Did you know that 50-55% of women and 40-45% of men suffer from some type of vein problem?
While some are cosmetic, many can be painful and result in a more serious condition. Signs and symptoms of Varicose Veins are enlarged veins that can be red, blue, or skin colored, they often look like a rope or cord that appears to be bulging. They are typically found on the legs and feet such as back of calves, inside of legs, bottom, thighs and feet. Spider Veins looks similar but are usually smaller and are closer to the surface of skin without bulging. Spider Veins are typically red or blue and contain short, jagged lines similar to a spider web.

What Can Causes Vein Problems?

There are many causes for Varicose or Spider Veins. Varicose Veins are weak or damages veins that can lead to backed-up blood in the veins. When the heart pumps blood into the body, distributing oxygen and nutrients, the veins serve as the circulating vehicle. Veins have one-way flaps to prevent blood from flowing backwards into the body, but as the vein gets damaged or weak, it can collect there and enlarge the vein, thus creating Varicose Veins. This excess fluid in the tissue can leave your legs and feet feeling heavy and swollen.  Some equally common causes include:

  • Age
  • Genetics
  • Gender
  • Family/ Medical History
  • Sun Exposure
  • Pregnancy
  • Obesity
  • Lack of Movement
