Cardiovascular care in Central Oregon was established in 1976 by Dr. Thomas Combs. With his leadership and expertise, our cardiology program has been providing the highest quality service to the community for 30 years. All our cardiologists are board certified, offering exceptional experience, education, and expertise. Cardiology includes an accredited Echocardiography Lab. Cardiology Services are conveniently offered not only at our main location but also at our Westside Clinic and the Redmond Clinic.

The Echocardiography Lab, certified by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echo Laboratories, conducts over eight thousand studies per year. It is staffed by ten certified Echo Technologists. In addition to providing mobile echocardiography tests in John Day, Burns, Madras, Lakeview, Redmond, Heppner and Prineville.

Jean Brown, PA-C

Jean has worked as a Physician Assistant in Cardiology for over 15 years. Brown is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Allied Health Physician Assistant Program and holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Thomas Combs

Thomas Combs, MD

D. Thomas Combs, MD received his medical degree from the University of Oregon and his Bachelor of Science from Montana State University. Combs completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii and a Fellowship in Cardiology at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, California.   Combs founded cardiovascular care at BMC in 1976. With Combs' leadership and expertise, BMC’s cardiology program has been providing the highest quality service to Central Oregon for over 30 years.

Heidi Cruise

Heidi Cruise , MS, PA-C

Heidi Cruise received her Master of Science in Physician Assistant studies from A.T. Still University in 2004 and her masters in Adult Fitness/Cardiac Rehabilitation from the University of Wisconsin in 1996.  Cruise joined the clinic in 2007 with multiple years of experience in Cardiac and Pulmonary rehabilitation.

Rodney Garrison , PA-C

Garrison is a graduate of Emory University Physician Assistant Program in Atlanta, Georgia and holds a Bachelor of Medical Science.  Rod also has a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.  Before working at BMC, he was employed at The Vancouver Clinic in Internal Medicine for 28 years.

Rick Koch, MD

Dr. Koch is the Director of Advanced Non-invasive Cardiovascular Imaging at Bend Memorial Clinic. He is a non-invasive cardiologist who joined BMC in July 2005 from University of Chicago Hospitals, where he completed medical school, residency and fellowship. He is Board Certified in Internal medicine, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Koch also has advanced training in Cardiac CT and MRI. Having published numerous papers and abstracts in the field of cardiac imaging and holding multiple patents in the area of cardiac ultrasound, Dr. Koch is dedicated to partnering with patients through education and understanding in achieving a higher quality of life.

Gavin Noble , MD

Dr. Noble is the Medical Director for the Nuclear Medicine department in the clinic with a focus on Non-Invasive Cardiology. Prior to his position with the Clinic, Dr. Noble served as an Attending Cardiologist on the teaching service at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. Dr. Noble is a graduate of the State University of New York at Syracuse, College of Medicine and completed his residency at University of New Mexico Hospital.  He also completed his fellowships in Cardiology and Cardiac Imaging at the Henry Low Division of Cardiology, Hartford Hospital and The University of Connecticut, Hartford, Connecticut.

In addition Dr. Noble was nominated and won the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology Young Investigator Competition and was Resident of the Year at the University of New Mexico, Department of Internal Medicine.  He has published multiple papers and abstracts and is active in many research endeavors. 

     
     
 

Stephanie Scott, PA-C

Stephanie Scott holds a Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Pacific University and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science from Colorado State University. Scott is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
