An Example of TotalCare

Dr. Arvidson,

I just wanted to write you a quick thank you note. I presented to you about 2 weeks ago with blurred double vision.

You examined me at some length and though you could find no problems with my eyes, your concern, your thorough exam and repeated mention of an MRI led me to seek further medical attention rather than waiting for my issue to subside on its own.

I saw you on Friday, a family practitioner on Monday who immediately scheduled me for that MRI and I met with my neurologist on Wed where I was diagnosed with MS.

It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks but without your concern I probably wouldn't have gone right to the GP. The course of events as they have played out have meant that I will be able to seek treatments much earlier than many who have my disease and that early action will have dramatic impacts on the degenerative progression of my MS.

So I just wanted to thank you. Thank you for taking so much time, for your obvious concern, for your thorough exam and extensive cautions. Thank you.

Katie (name changed at patient’s request)
