As Central Oregon’s first board-certified Gastroenterologists, we’re experts in preventing and treating disorders of the digestive tract and liver. We also provide potentially life-saving colonoscopy screenings. Other physicians might perform procedures such as a colonoscopy but our trained Gastroenterology physicians are expert in finding and dealing with issues arising from preventative screenings.
Our Gastroenterology department has become so busy that we recently expanded to 8 providers to meet the needs of our community.
Colorectal Cancer Information
Among cancers that affect both men and women, colorectal cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths in the United States. Screening helps to find and remove polyps before they become cancerous. It can also detect the cancer early when it is most treatable. If everyone who is 50 years or older were screened regularly, most deaths from this cancer could be avoided. Both men and women should consider screening beginning at the age of 50 whether or not they have signs or symptoms of colon cancer.
Who should screen?
Age 50 or older
Family history of colon cancer
History of Crohn’s or ulcerative colitis
Change in bowel habits
Talk to your doctor about screening options. You may need a referral to see one of our gastroenterologists. To request an appointment call (541) 318-3248.
