There are many tests and exams that go along with taking care of your breasts and those tests are essential for breast health. At Bend Memorial Clinic, we believe it is important that a woman become familiar with her breasts in order to identify breast abnormalities or changes. We also believe clinical breast exams performed by a health care provider are important. Our recommendation for mammography in the standard risk patient is annually beginning at age 40 and continuing as long as the patient is considered generally healthy, which aligns with the NCCN guideline.
If you have questions about screening mammograms or have a family history of breast cancer, talk to your doctor and learn what’s right for you based on your individual risk. It’s important that the two of you work together to develop a screening plan. Patients with a family history of breast cancer who want to discuss screening and risk reduction can also make an appointment with Oncologist Heather West, our breast cancer specialist.
At Bend Memorial Clinic, we have the most advanced digital imaging technology for analysis and diagnosis, including MRI breast imaging, mammograms and ultrasounds. Meet our team of primary care providers, surgeon specialists, oncologists and imaging specialists.
