KardioFit and Bend Memorial Clinic Partner to Launch the Get Fit Central Oregon Challenge

12-Month Wellness Program Leverages More Than $25,000 in Cash Reward Incentives, Biometric Body Sensing, Activity Tracking and Meal Planning to Improve Individual Health Region-wide

BEND, Ore. — July 15, 2013 — KardioFit, an innovative provider of personalized, incentive-based health and wellness programs, today launched the Get Fit Central Oregon Challenge, sponsored by Bend Memorial Clinic, the region’s leading multi-specialty healthcare clinic. This 12-month health improvement program incorporates activity tracking and biometric data, meal planning, and more than $25,000 in cash rewards to encourage positive lifestyle and behavior change among Central Oregonians.

“We’re very excited to partner with Bend Memorial Clinic on the Get Fit Central Oregon Challenge,” said Jim Miller, founder and CEO of KardioFit. “The Challenge will pit individuals against their own personal health goals, whether that’s losing a few extra pounds, eating more balanced meals, or completing their first half marathon. It’s fun, self-paced, and offers participants the opportunity to win weekly, monthly, and quarterly cash prizes for their success. Best of all, those who compete in the Challenge will learn to find their own personal path to sustained health improvement.”

Helping Central Oregonians Get Fit

The Get Fit Central Oregon Challenge incorporates a lottery-style incentive program with health management resources to promote behavior change, an approach validated in a 2008 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.[1] It is available to all residents of Deschutes, Jefferson, and Crook counties. Contestants will compete for $25,000 in prize money, which will be awarded in weekly $500 increments over the course of the Challenge. At the same time, they also earn regular entries into KARDIO’s weekly, monthly, and quarterly cash giveaways, as well as the Million Dollar Fitness Sweepstakes. A participant’s chance to win will be directly related to the actions taken—the more frequently individuals participate, the more entries they will have in each of the drawings.

“At BMC, our providers care for patients and help them understand the importance of making healthy choices to prevent or reduce health risks,” said Christy McLeod, Chief Marketing Officer at Bend Memorial Clinic.  “KardioFit provides the platform, tools and incentives to empower people to make healthier choices every day that lead to long-term sustainable healthy habits.  Simply put, this program provides the vehicle to help people make positive lifestyle changes supported by the opportunity to win great rewards for their effort.”

Nearly 70% of KardioFit members have improved their eating habits, 60% are walking more frequently, and almost 40% have lost weight.
