Jennifer A. Blechman MD is a Hospice and Palliative Care physician working at Partners in Care, Central Oregon’s only independent, non-hospital based hospice and home health organization. Dr. Blechman will see patients at the Summit Medical Group – BMC Main Eastside Clinic and work directly with SMGOR – BMC Oncologists on treatment plans. She completed her undergraduate at the University of California in Santa Cruz and attended medical school at Albany Medical College in New York. She completed her residency at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle and her Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship at Stanford University. She is board certified in Family Medicine as well as Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She has lived in Bend since 2002 and worked as a family medicine doctor for 11 years prior to completing a Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship.
Dr. Blechman loved being a family medicine doctor, especially taking care of the patient as a whole. She enjoys taking into account not just medical, but also social, cultural, familial and genetic factors contributing to their well-being. Many factors led her to redirect her career path, most notably diagnosing two of her long-time patients with devastating cancers, and her time spent working at Hospice House. She knows that dealing with serious illness and end-of-life is such an important part of being a doctor, and before she did her fellowship she didn’t feel she had the skills to do so effectively. She is passionate about helping patients and their families live with advanced illness and helping them live as fully as possible during their last months.
In her spare time you’ll find Dr. Blechman running, skiing, travel and trying to keep up with her 2 boys.
