Katherine Willis, PA-C

Katherine M. Willis, PA-C, received her bachelor’s degree in General Science from the University of Oregon with emphasis on Biology and Chemistry. Ms. Willis obtained a Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from Rocky Mountain College.

Originally from Montana, Ms. Willis has always been passionate about the outdoors, which prompted her move to Bend, OR in 2000. Experience as a river guide and ski patrolling career led her to become an EMT, an introduction to medicine that motivated her to further her medical knowledge and become a Physician Assistant (PA). The more she learned about medicine, the more she wanted to learn, and she became fascinated by the cycle of curiosity and discovery that health care offered.

Ms. Willis initially worked as a PA in Hospital Medicine, working with patients who had multiple diseases and complex medical conditions. This fostered her interest in Pulmonology and working on a collaborative team of providers to achieve the best result for the patient. Ms. Willis seeks to be a guide and educator for patients navigating complex medical conditions so that they leave their appointments with a better understanding of their health and feel empowered to be an active participant in their road to recovery. She feels that communication and education will allow patients to become more committed to the process and outcome of their health. Katie desires to develop close relationships with her patients and to actively listen to their concerns, so she can better assist them in improving their quality of life.

Ms. Willis is particularly interested in gender equality and diversity in health care. She hopes to foster open conversations about how different genders are viewed in the industry. To do this, she created a simple button that she wears to foster discussion on the different roles in medicine and the gender assumptions that accompany those roles.

When Ms. Willis is not in the office, you can find her participating in any and all of the plethora of outdoor activities that Central Oregon has to offer.
